Not everyone can be seen between nine and five. We offer home eye tests in the evening and at weekends, so a sight test can happen when the household is ready — when a working family member can be there, or simply when the patient is calmest. It's the same unhurried, GOC-registered care we provide on any visit, NHS-funded or private, with no extra charge for an out-of-hours appointment.
Many people arrange eye care for an elderly parent while holding down a full-time job. An evening or Saturday appointment means you can be there in person — to let the optometrist in, help your relative feel at ease, and hear the results first-hand — without taking time off work.
Carers and care home teams work to shift patterns that rarely match high-street opening hours. We schedule around those shifts, so the right staff member can be present and the visit fits the day rather than disrupting it.
For someone living with dementia, anxiety or low vision, a quiet evening can be far easier than a busy morning. We work at the patient's pace and choose a time when they're most settled, which makes for a calmer, more accurate examination.
There is no weekend or evening surcharge. If the patient qualifies for an NHS-funded home eye test, the visit is free — exactly as it would be on a weekday. If the visit is private, it's the same transparent fee whatever the day or time, quoted clearly before anything is booked. The clinical standard never changes either: the same portable equipment, the same thorough examination, the same optometrist care.
