Glasses supplied, fitted and delivered at home
After a home eye test, if glasses are needed, we bring a frame range to the patient — no trip to a high-street practice required. Frames are chosen at home, made up to your prescription, then delivered and adjusted on a return visit. NHS optical vouchers are accepted where eligible. Choosing frames without leaving home
Once your prescription is confirmed — usually after a home eye test — we bring a curated range of frames to you. The selection suits older patients and anyone with reduced grip or dexterity: lightweight designs, comfortable nose-pad support, and styles that are easy to handle when putting glasses on and off.
You can try frames in natural light at your kitchen table or in whichever room you prefer. A relative or carer can help compare options. We explain lens types in plain language and confirm the price of your chosen combination before anything is ordered.
NHS optical vouchers
NHS optical vouchers are accepted where eligible. The voucher reduces the price of the glasses you select; any remaining balance is quoted clearly upfront. Being over 60 does not by itself entitle you to a voucher — eligibility follows national NHS rules explained on our NHS optical vouchers page.
If you do not qualify for a voucher, we still confirm the full price before you order. There is no obligation to buy from First Care Optical after a sight test; your prescription is yours to use at any optician.
Delivery, fitting and adjustments
Glasses are glazed to your prescription and brought back for a fitting visit at home. Randy adjusts nose pads and arms in person so the frame sits comfortably and securely. If screws work loose or minor tweaks are needed later, we offer free minor adjustments for the life of the glasses you bought from us.
Reglazing and replacement lenses can be arranged on request when your prescription changes but your frame is still serviceable. Tell us about handling difficulties — we can suggest frames with flexible materials or simpler clasp designs.
Varifocals, reading glasses and distance pairs
Many domiciliary patients need separate reading and distance glasses, or varifocals for mixed tasks. We measure and fit with the same care you would expect in a practice, adapted to how you actually use your vision at home — reading, television, kitchen work and moving safely between rooms.
