NHS-funded home eye tests

If you (or someone you care for) cannot leave home unaccompanied because of a physical or mental illness or disability, the NHS will fund a sight test in your home.

The NHS calls this a "domiciliary sight test". Eligibility is set by the NHS and is the same wherever you live in England. You do not need a GP referral.

We check eligibility with you over the phone, book a visit at a time that works, and complete all the NHS paperwork on your behalf. If glasses are needed and the patient is also eligible for an NHS optical voucher, the voucher value is applied to the cost of glasses.

Common groups who qualify include people living with dementia, recovering from stroke, with severe mobility impairment, or who are otherwise housebound.
