While our head office is based in Coventry, our hub-based model allows us to deliver planned home and care-home eye tests across a wider region through structured scheduling and local operating bases.

First Care Optical provides NHS-funded and private home eye tests for patients who are unable to attend a high-street optician.

How our Midlands Hub works

Our Midlands Hub is designed to support care homes, supported-living settings, and housebound patients through planned domiciliary clinics rather than ad-hoc visits.

Clinics are coordinated centrally to ensure continuity of care, efficient scheduling, and clear communication with care staff and families. This approach allows us to support multiple locations consistently while maintaining clinical standards and inspection readiness.

Head Office & Operating Bases

Coventry acts as the head office for First Care Optical and remains our primary base for domiciliary eye care.

In addition, we operate from a remote base in Wolverhampton and regularly provide planned clinics in areas such as Northampton, allowing us to support care settings across a broader Midlands footprint.

NHS and Private Home Eye Tests in the Midlands

Eligible patients may qualify for free NHS-funded home eye tests, including those aged over 60, individuals with mobility difficulties, and people with certain medical conditions or disabilities.

We also offer private home eye tests for patients who do not meet NHS criteria but would still benefit from receiving eye care at home.

What to Expect From a Home Eye Test

During a home visit, our optometrist brings all the necessary equipment to carry out a comprehensive eye examination in the comfort of your home. This includes:

Frame and lens selection, if required

Following the examination, prescription glasses can be ordered and delivered directly to your home.

We can also provide private home eye tests for patients with mobility issues, who are not eligible for nhs funding.
