NHS-Funded Home Eye Tests Across the Midlands

First Care Optical provides NHS-funded home eye tests for patients who are unable to attend a

high-street optician due to mobility or health reasons. Our domiciliary optometry service ensures

eligible patients receive professional eye care in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. For a

general overview of our service, see Home Eye Tests.

What Is an NHS Home Eye Test?

An NHS home eye test is a full eye examination funded by the NHS for patients who meet eligibility criteria and are unable to leave home unaccompanied. The examination is clinically equivalent to an eye test carried out in a high-street practice. To understand the process, see What to Expect.

Who Is Eligible for an NHS Home Eye Test?

You may be eligible for an NHS home eye test if you are unable to attend a high-street optician due to a physical or mental health condition, mobility difficulties, or because you live in a care home. For full eligibility details, see Eligibility.

NHS Optical Vouchers

If you qualify for an NHS-funded eye test, you may also be entitled to an NHS Optical Voucher to help with the cost of glasses or contact lenses.

Voucher values are set nationally and vary depending on prescription type. If frames or lenses exceed the voucher value, you may choose to pay the difference.

Eligibility is assessed individually at the time of the eye examination.
